What are your thoughts on a skin cancer app helping spot skin changes?

I've noticed that there are a lot beginning to pop up that are available. I think the ideas is good in assisting patients with gaining knowledge and tracking their current moles (mapping and tracking).

I know the app that was created within our Derm department (in a partnership) seemed to be gaining popularity and the overall mission seemed well intended. As part of using the app the user was prompted to allow the proprietor of the program to use the users pictures and data of the moles to increase the knowledge of the app. Thus the app was continually learning and gaining intelligence and the ability to better recognize regular and irregular moles.
