May is Melanoma and Skin Cancer Awareness month, May 7th is Melanoma Monday and the last Friday of the month (May 25th, 2018) is "Don't Fry Friday." We have many tools to use to promote these events. Are you doing your part? Please post what you have done to boost awareness.
I have used the Don't Fry Friday flyers for my High School. I did a presentation on, "Protect the Skin You're In!" I discussed the need for sun protections and the risk of indoor tanning. I have done, "Dine with a Doc" for seniors and discussed skin cancer awareness. We are putting flyers in our newspapers as well as sending messages to our patients via our EMR on sun protection and skin cancer awareness. I was able to send a picture of me doing what I preach to #SunSafeSelfie from the CDC. I asked 2 of my melanoma patients to post on their face book about what they have gone through with their diagnosis of melanoma. I have shared on face book all the Skin Cancer Foundation awareness post and changed my email signature line to include sun safety.
Things I use for information.
